- The
Big Ideas in Beginning Reading website is designed to
provide information, technology, and resources to teachers,
administrators, and parents across the country. Big Ideas in
Beginning Reading focuses on the five
BIG IDEAS of early literacy: phonemic awareness,
alphabetic principle, fluency with text, vocabulary, and
comprehension. The website includes definitions and descriptions of
the research and theories behind each of the big ideas, describes
how to assess the big ideas, gives information on how to teach the
big ideas including instructional examples, and finally, shows you
how to put it all together in your school. http://reading.uoregon.edu/
- Check out the
Florida Center for Reading Research for an extensive
review of researched reading programs. This is an excellent site
that provides detailed descriptions of programs, their intended use,
and the extent to which their content, organization, and
instructional strategies are consistent with scientifically-based
research in reading. http://www.fcrr.org/forTeachers.htm
