PLC Student
Featured at CIS Day at the Capitol
“Communities in Schools” (CIS) Day was held on
March 13 at the capitol. Valdosta City Schools
was honored to have student Dennis K. Ford give
his student testimonial about his educational
experience at the Pinevale Performance Learning
Center. Ford’s tribute to the Pinevale Learning
Center was presented to the Joint Senate and
House Education Committees of the Georgia
General Assembly from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. that
day. The student testimonials were held at the
Coverdell Legislative Office Building in room
406.
Dennis
Ford was selected to present his testimonial due
to his high communication and public speaking
skills, as well as his willingness to work as a
team player. “The PLC is a school that works at
a pace that fits us instead of working at the
pace that teachers want us to,” said Ford. “I
never had a plan for the future what so ever,
but every time I complete a class, I am one step
closer to finishing the programs they have.”
There were only 12 spots for student
presentations and Ford filled one of those
honorable positions.
Students
were nominated by their executive directors,
academic coordinators, services coordinators,
and teachers, and were invited to attend the
Student Achievement Awards luncheon on the March
13th at noon. For more information on
the Performance Learning Center or CIS Day,
