West Gordon
Student Council Visits the State Capitol
West Gordon Student
Council serves as a democratic way for students
to have a voice in their school and give back to
the school and community. The council consist
of students, elected by classmates, to
represents the views and ideas of their class.
Recently, these students visited the Georgia
State Capitol to observe where our leaders work
diligently to represent the people of our
district. Senator Tim Golden greeted the
council, on the Senate floor, and discussed the
democratic process, citizenship, leadership, and
the value of public service. He shared with the
students decisions that he has made in the best
interest of South Georgia and allowed the
students to ask questions concerning our state
government.
The West Gordon
Student Council, along with their advisors Mrs.
Karen May and Miss Elizabeth Raque, would like
to thank Senator Tim Golden and his secretary
Carmen Alexander for their time and help in
making this field trip a memorable experience.
We would also like to thank the Valdosta Board
of Education for approving the trip. |
