VHS Student and
teacher awarded at the Capitol
A Valdosta High
School student and teacher were honored May 2 at
the Capitol during The State of Georgia Official
Observance of the Days of Remembrance by the
Georgia Commission on the Holocaust and the
Georgia Department of Education. Jordan Rickman
won 4th place in the statewide competition for
his pastel depicting the lessons of the
Holocaust, and Narci Drossos received the
2008 Distinguished Educator Award for a lesson
plan she submitted on GeorgiaStandards.org. She
was recommended by her students Noah Adler and
Raili Oaks and Vice Principal Ansel Cox at VHS.
Georgia Power, sponsor of the Days of
Remembrance, will award Mrs. Drossos $1000.
