Newbern Middle Schools recently had six new Smartboards installed	Teachers and Administrators are exploring the possibility of installing Mimio systems in many of our classrooms.
Nine new Promethean Boards have just been installed at VHS in the Mathematics Department.	VHS Teachers have been participating in a series of training sessions with Shirley Sainz from the ETTC.

Telephone Notification System

The Valdosta City School System recently launched Connect-ED, a school-to-parent telephone notification system, as part of the school system’s efforts to communicate more effectively with parents.  Connect-ED will also be used for staff communications. (More) (Hear Message)

Web Filtering Request

There are still some issues being worked on with the Bellsouth web filtering system. If a site is blocked you should see a grey screen that states the site is blocked. If you get a screen that says "Page not Found" its probably a connection problem. Right now the filtering may be blocking some sites that we don't want blocked so Teachers may request to have sites unblocked or report sites that need to be blocked by emailing mswift@gocats.org View the Valdosta City Schools Acceptable Use Policy
