Valdosta Early College Academy (VECA) is a school within the Valdosta City School System in partnership with Valdosta State University. VECA is a small school designed for students to earn both a high school diploma and up to 60 semester hours of college credit by the end of 12th grade.

Students
  • Target population: Low income, first generation high school/college, and struggling learners with potential
  • Become members of the VSU campus community with access and privileges to many university resources
  • Dedicated, hard working and willing to put forth the effort necessary to achieve to their potential


Mission

Valdosta Early College Academy is a student-centered learning community committed to providing engaging, rigorous academic coursework. We promote the care and support needed for all students to meet high expectations and experience success in college coursework prior to high school graduation.

Admission & Eligibility

Students are nominated for admission based on several criteria: standardized test results, attendance, and recommendations from current teachers, school and community leaders.

Service Learning

Students will complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service each year. Participation in the community develops students’ appreciation for Valdosta and enriches their understanding and empathy for others.

Sports & Clubs

Students will be eligible for membership in all sports and clubs offered by Valdosta Middle School and Newbern Middle School. Academy clubs may be formed based on student interest.
