camp |
Valdosta
Technical College is offering a four day
camp for 9th though 12th grade students who
are interested in graphic art and design.
The camp offers state of the art graphics
software, digital printing and much more.

BETA Club traveled on an outstanding
educational trip to Washington, DC on April
28 – May 2, 2009. NMS BETA Club was given a
tour of Washington, DC by a knowledgeable

Season Kickoff Golf Tournament |
VHS
will host the first annual Season Kickoff
Golf Tournament--4 Man Scramble on Monday,
June 22th at the Valdosta Country
Club. Registration will begin at 11:00
am and tee off will begin at 1:00 pm.

high school. Each course is worth ˝ credit.
VHS summer school is SACS accredited and

awarded a $2,000 Toolbox for Education grant

delivers red carpet reading rewards
|
The
love of reading offers many life long
rewards, but seven W.G. Nunn students
recently reaped immediate benefits. The
girls enjoyed lunch and tokens at CiCi's
Pizza and dessert at Dairy Queen,
all while being
chauffeured in a limousine.

graduates must send final transcripts to
the college they plan to attend in the
fall. Many students filled out the
forms at graduation practice.
Transcripts for those will be mailed by
May 29th to the school(s) of choice
listed by the student. For those
who still need to fill out the form

Marchin' Cats to host Reunion Banquet |
On
Saturday, May 30, 2009, the VHS Band Boosters will sponsor the 1st
Annual Marchin' Cats Reunion Banquet at the
Rainwater Conference Center. The evening
will begin with a Meet & Greet hour
starting at 6:00 pm and dinner will be served

hosted its first Eighth Grade Graduation on
Friday, May 22nd at 9:00 am in
the school’s gymnasium. Principal Richardson
awarded 101 diplomas to Newbern’s 2009

year the University of Georgia, in
conjunction with the State Department of
Education, recognizes Georgia Certificate of
Merit Scholars across the state of Georgia
in recognition of outstanding scholastic

visited W.G. Nunn third graders. He spoke to
students about the great wonders of science.

Letters go out to parents/students affected
by redistricting |
Valdosta
City Schools mailed out letters today to all
students that have been impacted by the
redistricting. The letter will notify the
parent of what school their child is zoned
for and where their permanent education

On
Friday May 1st, J.L. Lomax Garden
Club traveled to Tifton to visit the
agricultural farm at ABAC. The students had
an exciting time picking strawberries,
carrots, and seeing how different machines

2nd graders present Jazz Show

W.G.
Nunn 2nd grade students jazzed it up with
their tribute to African American jazz
musicians. Under the direction of music
teacher Sue Ellen Rumstay, they presented
their annual music show to parents and the

Newbern students help keep Valdosta parks
clean |
The
students work alongside city employees to
maintain Payton, McKey, Shannon Hill,
Taylor-Cowart, and Valloton Parks. The class
has been working with Valdosta-Lowndes
County Parks and Recreation Authority for
about 6 months. (More) |

"Sweet" fundraiser held at W.G. Nunn |
The
first annual Pies a Flyin' fundraiser
was held at W.G. Nunn. As part of an ongoing
effort to raise funds for new playground
equipment administrators and teachers
volunteered to give students a chance to
deliver a whipped cream pie in the face.
